Angelina Jolie Says She Found Focus on Her Weight Loss "Disturbing"

Angelina Jolie — who just nabbed a Screen Actors Guild nomination — admits she got too skinny this year but says she was bothered by all the negative scrutiny. Jolie, 32 — who says she lost weight while grieving over her mother's passing in January — opened up in the new issue of Grazia magazine. “The thing that’s disturbing is that instead of people saying, ‘This looks like a person that’s actually dealing with something, probably from emotions,’ they say, ‘Does she fit into skinny jeans and look thin?’” Jolie said. “I want people to understand who I am as a person is not somebody that’s trying to look thin, but just trying to work through a very difficult year,” she said. (For other stars who got too skinny, click here.) Jolie said she got through her death of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, thanks to the support of her beau Brad Pitt (they were recently named Us' Couple of the Year). “He is just a great friend and when my mother passed, he was so great,” she said. “He sat with me and held [my mother’s] hand. After she passed away he spent the night asking me and my brother about our mother and got us to tell funny stories about her. “He focused on all the love and joy we were fortunate enough to have had,” Jolie said. “He was extraordinary.”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's 1-year-old daughter Shiloh has been named the world's most influential celeb kid. The Hollywood power couple's only biological child topped the new list, compiled by Forbes magazine. The mag compiled the list after analysing the amount of press attention given to celebrity children under 5-years-old in 2007, reports Usmagazine.com. The second spot went to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter Suri, followed by another Brangelina baby, adopted daughter Zahara, at number three. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's two-year-old son Sean Preston ranked fourth, while Pitt and Jolie's adopted child, Vietnamese son Pax landed fifth. World's Most Influential Celeb Kids are: 1. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt 2. Suri Cruise 3. Zahara Jolie-Pitt 4. Sean Preston Federline 5. Pax Jolie-Pitt 6. Sam Alexis Woods (daughter Tiger Woods) 7. David Banda (son of Madonna and Guy Ritchie) 8. Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead 9. Cruz and Romeo Beckham (tie) I'm not sure how a child can be powerful but whatever it's Hollywood and what's with Maddox not making the list .

When Jon Voight stopped by The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet on Friday, the Oscar-winner appeared to be in good spirits. There to promote his new movie, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Jon almost got away with not talking about his very famous and very estranged daughter, Angelina Jolie. When she was mentioned, the actor's mood went from very jovial to being on the verge of tears. "No, I can't talk about it really," he lamented. "But I send my love to my daughter and son, the family always. I wish them the best." Then instead of changing topics right away, Jon then did exactly what he said he couldn't do — talk about Angie. "I'm very impressed with Angelina's work, with some of the humanitarian things," he explained. "And she's a great actress." "I'm always thinking of Brad [Pitt] and the kids. I'm sending my love that way." And then Jon attempted to lighten the mood, veering away from the subject at hand. "This is a very down note... Merry Christmas, everybody!" I saw it this morning and he seemed sincere I hope they can work things out one day. On a happier note Angie was nominated for a golden globe for her role in A Mighty Heart.

When it comes to activism, just call Hayden Panettiere the next Angelina Jolie. "Absolutely, I would take that," Panettiere told PEOPLE Friday night in Washington, D.C. for the Forecast Earth Summit by The Weather Channel, where she spoke to a group of 22 high school students from across the country who were honored for their environmental outreach. "She was definitely one of my inspirations growing up and she was definitely somebody I looked up to," the 18-year-old Heroes star says. read more...

Farmers Want Jolie to Visit Philippines

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Thousands of rural people have been displaced by increased military operations, a left-wing Filipino farmers group said Friday in an appeal for help to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The Farmers' Movement of the Philippines, or KMP, urged the UNHCR to send goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie to look into the rising number of internal refugees in the country. The KMP asked for the 32-year-old actress to witness "the real situation of internally displaced people in the country," KMP officer Willy Marbella said in a statement. Jolie has worked with UNHCR since early 2001. More than 10,000 people have been forced to leave their homes this year alone because of military actions and threats, he said. But the military blames insurgents for the problem. "More than 10,000 peace-loving people are displaced every now and then due to the persistence of the insurgents in carrying out their armed revolution," said Lt. Col. Ernesto Torres, the army's spokesman. "The faster we can get our acts together ... in defeating the insurgents, the sooner we can put a stop to this unwarranted displacement of people." Lt. Col. Bartolome Bacarro, the armed forces spokesman, said he couldn't confirm nor contradict the figures cited, but stressed that the military operations aim to run after rebels, not displace civilians. Soldiers are told to avoid engaging guerrillas in populated areas, he said. The military is battling communist rebels, who have been fighting for a Maoist-led state for 39 years, and the 11,000-strong Moro Islamic Liberation Front that has been struggling for two decades for self-rule in the southern Philippines.
Maddox writes letter to Santa for his brother and sisters

As the oldest child in the Jolie-Pitt household, certain responsibilities fall to Maddox Jolie-Pitt but he has reportedly stepped up to the plate. A source close to the family told OK magazine that Maddox has taken it on himself to write a letter to Santa Claus on behalf of his younger siblings as well as himself, to ensure they all get what they would like this Christmas. The source claims Maddox has asked for an Elf DVD and some remote-controlled cars for younger brother Pax, because “Pax loves cars”, while sister Zahara wants princess dresses and a crying doll but “Maddox doesn’t know why Z would want her toy to cry”. The baby of the family, Shiloh, will get a doll and some books while Maddox himself would like a remote-controlled dinosaur: “He asked Grandma Jane [Pitt] for one, but he isn’t sure she’s going to buy it.” The family are planning on spending the holiday period in their $3.5million home in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Mum Angelina Jolie and Maddox were in the city earlier in the week to support dad Brad Pitt’s launch of the ‘Make It Right’ foundation to help continue redevelopment of the area following 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. Angelina told Us Weekly that she had to return to Los Angeles for a few weeks to continue work on The Changeling but “we’ll be back here for Christmas time.” - fametastic
