Family
Father: Jon Voight
Jolie has been long estranged from her father,
blaming his infidelity for the break-up of the family, though a reconciliation was attempted, and he appeared with her
in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. In July 2002, Jolie filed a request to legally change her name to "Angelina Jolie", dropping
Voight as her surname; the name change was made official on September 12, 2002.[14] In August of the same year,
Voight claimed that his daughter had "serious emotional problems" on Access Hollywood.
In the October 2004 issue of Premiere Magazine, Jolie indicated that she no longer wished to pursue a relationship
with her father, and said, "My father and I don’t speak. I don’t hold any anger toward him. I don’t believe that somebody’s
family becomes their blood. Because my son’s adopted, and families are earned."
She stated that she did not want to publicize her reasons for her estrangement from her father,
but because she had adopted her son, she did not think it was healthy for her to associate with Voight.

Mother: Marcheline Bertrand (May 9, 1950 – January 27, 2007) was an American actress of French-Canadian and
Indigenous Iroquois descent. According to daughter Angelina Jolie, Bertrand is often wrongly identified as a
French actress: "My mom is as far from French Parisian as you can get. She's part Iroquois Indian, from Chicago.
She grew up in a bowling alley that my grandparents owned.
Towards the end of her life, Bertrand preferred to keep a low profile and did not grant interviews.
She died from ovarian cancer in Los Angeles, after a 7½ year battle.
Her children, Angelina Jolie and James Haven, and Jolie's partner, Brad Pitt, were at the hospital at the time of her death.

Brother: James Haven
Born in 1973.
Although Haven's acting career has not been as high-profile or as prolific as his father or sibling's careers,
he has made appearances in several movies, including the 2001 film Monster's Ball. Haven has also appeared in several
French films.
He has also appeared in the drama series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Haven studied filmmaking at USC School of Cinema-Television, and while there, won a George Lucas
film award for directing a film which featured Jolie. In all, five of Haven's student films included his sister.
Haven was credited, along with his mother and sister, as an executive producer on the 2005
documentary "Trudell", which told the story of Native American poet and activist John Trudell. |
